Great white trillium - Ontario's provincial flower
This photo hints at why the great white trillium (Trillium grandiflorum) is Ontario's official flower. This time of year, the beautiful white blossoms decorate the floor of many deciduous forests throughout Ontario.

East Gwillimbury is a rural town less than an hour north of Toronto, Canada's largest city.

Very nice shot, EG! We have, officially, 5 plants on 3/4 acre. Progress.
Great captures. We don't have great white trillium, here. I love learning about new birds and flowers from other bloggers.
Love this shot Kerri. We have great patches of them here too, and as they age they turn pink.

Beautiful photos, EG. We have trillium in the Smokies--but don't know if it's the same as yours. Love those white flowers.
Hugs,
Betsy

If this is just a sample, it must be absolutely wonderful to go hiking there right now. Lovely!

I love trilliums. I wish they grew in my yard and not just by the river.
Hello again! Haven't seen you for a bit since I haven't gotten around to posting on SkyWatch lately. Very sweet shots!
What a carpet! How wonderful!
What a beautiful forest bed of Trillium. One of my favorites too. Nice shot. MB
So many!!! We only get one or two and so far apart, it is a treat to see them. We have the white and the purple ones or is that the older ones?
These are so beautiful, EG! :)
The best time to walk in the woods, when the flowers are blooming.
Beautiful flowers! Thanks for sharing these with us.
