N.B.:
Yes, the ice is thick, but not everywhere: Moments after I took the picture of the children, one adult broke through the ice, near the reeds. Musrats living in the reeds blow airbubbles, which weaken the ice above their travel routes.

Lovely shots. Did you sty up to see the new year in? I was in Tottenham, and then in Barrie, sitting in a cold car outside until the stroke of midnight, when we went "First Footing".
