Canadian National Railway

 Right side of mural

Up from last week's mural and across the Street, Canada's other national train hangs high above a building. I was surprised to see a green engine. Today CN Rail is a freight train and the engines are orange.

 Left side

Whereas the CPR mural is depicted in summer, CN is shown in winter.

The entire mural

The different color is obviously the artist's "poetic license."

One of our best vacations was riding across Canada by train, actually three trains. We started in Vancouver and went all the way to Halifax.

Hi Tina, You won't be surprised that I like this one! Anything trains! I do wish the CN was still a passenger road, but no matter, VIA is doing a fine job with the passenger service ... at least a lot better than AMTRAK in my opinion.

A great mural ... The green looks gorgeous against the snowy background and wouldn't have shown so well when the landscape was summery green!

Did they ever make model trains based on this design? You can easily imagine a kid watching the train go around and around the Christmas tree. The elk watching the train run by is a nice touch. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

That was fun to see because it looks so different than anything I would see in the US.
