Quiet Harbour

 Lonely rowboat

The piers at Port Whitby are looking empty. Most of the boats have been put to bed for the winter and this rowboat was pretty much alone waiting for its owner to take it out into the harbour.

 Gate to Pier 2

The gate was locked! But the harbour was not empty as...

Red-breasted Merganser

a few red-breasted mergansers were enjoying the quiet.

Few images more tranquil than water reflecting off the hull of a boat.

I love that picture of the boat though I'd find it difficult to say exactly why.

I like that boat, she is a beauty.. and cool shot of the gate and never seen one like it, we have them here but they are at the dock where they touch the shore, not out like that

The merganser enjoys having the water to him or herself.

The last lonely boat. Hope someone pulls it out of the water soon.

Pretty shots! That locked gate looks strange out there on the pier, but I know it serves it's purpose.

so very pretty - the bird and the rowboat. :) the gate seems odd to me, as well.

Your pictures today are all about wonderful reflections!! I love the water reflection on the side of the boat, so beautiful. Also the gate reflection. Not sure what kind of duck this is...

Tina,
All 3 photos are great.
My personal favorite is the duck with the "Punk Rocker" hair do :)

That boat looks so inviting. Would love to paddle away for a few hours. Last weekend I saw the hooded mergansers out in full force, so the red-breasted is a treat. Nice reflections, all!

Beautiful, peaceful images. Last November, we had to chip through the ice to get out boat out of the lake. :/

It's a nice-looking boat. Too bad its life on the water is coming to an end. And those ducks! Did you ever notice they never learn to come in out of the cold. Sometimes you'll find them skimming along on ice! Sheesh!

I bet I could get around that gate, without even getting wet!

The boat looks special because of the reflection of water. The last fellow seems to be having a bad hair day :)
