Tree Sparrow

 American Tree Sparrow (Spizella arborea)

I have been trying to learn how to identify the various sparrows commonly seen in central and southern Ontario, and this is one of the easiest because the top side of its bill is black and the bottom is yellow.  Tree sparrows spend the warm months way, wa-a-ay up north but a few winter here in south-central Ontario.

Thinking about flying down for some seed on the ground

I am linking to Saturday Critters HERE.

Oh, yeah! I worked at trying to better distinguish these little squirts from each other without much success. Photographs like these, though, definitely would have helped.

Awww, your bird portraits are just SO good! I don't think I have ever seen a tree one before. But we have many chipping, white throat, and house.

I'll have to keep an eye out for these birds with the two colours on their beaks.

I fell in love with this sweet bird when it visited our garden this fall. Just a stop by on his way south or perhaps his inter home...
