Z/Alphabe-Thursday

 Donkey at petting ZOO

Z is for ZOO - petting ZOO, actually

Now that most Canadian kids live in urban areas or in towns and villages, farm animals are nearly as exotic to them as animals from Africa and Asia. Only kid-friendly animals usually appear at petting zoos, so children are free to actually touch them gently with their hands.

 Alpaca (I think)

Adults like me find it fun to get up close too.

 Goats and sheep

Even goats and sheep are "foreign" to most Canadians so are great parts of a petting zoo.

Pony

And so are ponies.

I love them all, but must admit to thinking donkeys are the cutest thing ever! Love the way you've captured their personalities. =)

You are so right about not seeing the farm animals that my parents took for granted... I love the hair on the alpaca!!

That alpaca's quite a standout!

I love your shots of this little petitng zoo, and so fun for the kids to have a chance to be around these animals. You are so right that most urban kids really don't get to see many of these any more.

Petting zoos are terrific and I love them, too! A great chance for kids/us to see animals that we don't have a chance to see living with concrete/pavement/buildings instead of nature!! Wonderful, fun captures for the day!! Thanks for sharing! Hope your week is going well!!

I live in farm country and I still love petting zoos! I'd be the one dragging my kids over to see the animals.Who can resist the patient donkey and the quirky alpacas?

I like pictures of petting zoos. All of the cuteness... none of the smell. ;-)

It's nice for us adults to see 'exotic' creatures too! ;-)

Sweet collection of animals. The alpaca reminds me of James Brown.

The alpaca is great!

It's sad to think that kids nowadays don't even know what chicken look like and believe that they come in boxes... My question: what's up with the parents?

lol, I really love the "hairdo" of the alpaca :)

Perfect for the letter Z! Love the photos, especially of the donkey.

That alpaca (I think) is so unusual. I wonder how many Canadians come across them, whether they are urban or rural.

You found a nice petting Zoo, Ms. EQTG. I like them but those kids really like them. The sheep and goats would be my favorites.

I enjoyed the trip to your petting zoo. I'm afraid a lot of kids here don't see a lot of different animals either. We drive past cattle often, but not much else.

Good experience there for the kids, it must be wonderful to pet them :)
